“Recovery” is more rewarding than drug use in the long run. But young people have difficulty believing this in early stages of treatment. Therefore, making recovery attractive, engaging and interesting from day one is necessary. This includes staying busy with new people, new places and new things that are all about a new way of life!
In the young adult program at BoardPrep Recovery Center®, there is very little idle time. In addition to a full therapeutic schedule of groups, individual sessions, family therapy and work/school, engaging residents in plenty of sober fun activities on a daily basis is the priority. To name a few, these include:
- Sporting events
- Water activities
- Beach trips
- Cafes and Coffee Shops
- LA Fitness
- Fishing
- Outside 12-step meetings and activities
In the Past . . .
I was hanging out with people I didn’t want to be with anymore,
doing things I didn’t want to do in places that I didn’t want to be . . .
and I didn’t know why.
Now . . .
I hang out with people I DO want to be with,
doing things I want to do in places that I want to be . . .
and I DO KNOW why!
