to create your personalized wellbeing plan!
Partial Hospitalization (also called Day/Night Treatment) offers a similar number of weekly therapy hours as traditional inpatient rehab. PHP patients typically engage in treatment from their own supportive home environment. BoardPrep PHP is structured with best-practice elements such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, twelve-step facilitation, and a trauma-informed approach. EMDR and TMS therapy are also available during PHP as part of our outpatient treatment programs, as needed.
Personalized Care
Recovery from substance use or another mental health disorder is personal. BoardPrep methodically develops individualized treatment recommendations for each person, based on the findings of the clinical assessment.
Experts prescribe LEVEL OF CARE (intensity) and predict the anticipated duration (estimated time before the transition to lower level) that will create the best outcomes.
The assessment also helps predict an optimal estimated length of stay. Although the length of stay is always individualized to each person, an estimated length of stay is needed for planning purposes for the individual, the family, employer, and provider.
Example Individualized Programs for Health Professionals
6 Weeks PHP + IOP/OP Program
Eligibility based on assessment findings:
- Absence of complex dual diagnosis
- Absence of legal problems or board issues (med pros)
- Legal/board issues are manageable as an outpatient
- Available high-quality outpatient or IOP near home
- Professional monitoring program endorsement
Program description
- Complete A-C phase (described below)
- Transition to Intensive Outpatient or Outpatient services
12 Weeks PHP Program
(84 day estimated length of stay)
When needed, BoardPrep uses a 4 Phase/12 Week model program to structure the experience. The example below is for an individual who completes the A through D phase in 12 weeks
Eligibility based on assessment findings:
- Complex dual diagnosis
- Legal or Board complications
- Concerns expressed by professional monitoring program
Program description
- Complete A-D phase (described below)
- Then assess the need for E Phase (extended Recovery Residence)
Description of the Phases
A Phase: Orientation, detoxification, stabilization, early education & support (about 7-14 days)
B Phase: Education, acclimation, and early integration into recovery community (about 14-21 days)
C Phase: Introspection, making changes, reducing relapse risk (about 21 days)
D Phase: Clinical hours reduced for work/school, preparation (about 42 days)
Extended Care
E Phase: Full-time work or school while maintaining a robust recovery schedule
- Continue in Recovery Residence, aftercare meetings, individual sessions, and psychiatric follow-up as recommended
- 3-9 months as recommended
The Collaborative Treatment Process
The first 3 phases of BoardPrep’s 5-phase system form the foundation for continued recovery in a less structured setting. Based on ongoing ASAM dimensional assessment, many clients are recommended to return home and continue their recovery in an outpatient or intensive outpatient setting.
When clients transition from B-phase to C-phase, a comprehensive clinical review is undertaken by the interdisciplinary treatment team. Clients are endorsed for transition to outpatient or intensive outpatient at 6 weeks (upon completion of C-phase) based on the following criteria:
- Behavioral stability and compliance with a treatment plan
- Medication compliance, including Vivitrol when recommended
- Positive response to treatment
- Completion of individualized assignment packet
- Endorsement of professional monitoring program (med pros)
- “Pre-admission” to OP or IOP completed prior to transition
Intensive Outpatient
IOP commonly stands for “intensive outpatient program.” At BoardPrep Recovery, IOP also stands for Individualized Outpatient Program due to the tailored approach. Participants in BoardPrep IOP express their gratitude for the accessibility of the program and the professionalism of the staff.
BoardPrep IOP usually consists of 3 to 4 hours of treatment services per day. IOP sessions usually occur 3 to 4 days a week for a duration of about 12 weeks. BoardPrep Recovery Center® is a State licensed and Nationally accredited IOP provider.
We offer IOP tailor-made to each client. You or your loved one receives the specific services necessary to overcome obstacles to a successful recovery. You won’t find a “one-size-fits-all” approach at BoardPrep. Furthermore, we honor the individual and develop a plan that will help each client begin a new, addiction-free life. Therefore, recovery begins with a thorough clinical evaluation. It may also include optional psychological and neuro-cognitive testing.
IOP treatment includes
- 3-4 partial days of treatment each week with licensed addiction specialists in whatever setting is appropriate for you or your loved one – individualized groups or one-on-one.
- Monitoring and recovery support with the assistance of mobile breathalyzer devices, biomarker sampling, and other tools to promote accountability.
- A family approach to treatment, when applicable, with personalized in-home family therapy sessions conducted by licensed experts.
Making the right choice
Studies show that identifying with or relating to others in treatment is one key to early recovery. When a person goes to a rehab in a place where they feel they do not belong, because they cannot relate to others in the group, it can actually do more harm than good.
